Pauline Soo has joined Datacom as Health Director, bringing 20 years’ experience in healthcare and aged care to the role.  

Based in Datacom’s Melbourne office, Soo is focused on building understanding of the unique requirements of customers in the healthcare sector and identifying opportunities for Datacom to help tackle sector-wide challenges. 

Enabling healthcare customers to innovate and prepare for the future is another important focus for Soo, who says scarce resources and heavy regulatory and compliance requirements can make innovating a real challenge for the sector.

Soo’s previous roles include Director of Operations for virtual healthcare company Teledoc, Operations Manager for aged care not-for-profit Baptcare, and consulting to health insurance and health services provider Australian Unity. 

In her ten years with Australia’s largest healthcare staffing group Programmed Professionals, Soo worked across a series of leadership, change management and business improvement roles. 

“Working in different areas within the health sector allowed me to see that every day there are patients, healthcare professionals and organisations dealing with the same issues and challenges,” says Soo.  

“That realisation led me to want to step away from working in individual organisations to solve individual problems, and to look at opportunities to create solutions that can help the sector as a whole. My role with Datacom puts me in a position to help more clients in a more impactful way rather than just one client at a time.”  

Soo's role will see her travel regularly to engage, collaborate and partner with Datacom customers across Australia to help them deliver their strategic priorities.  

Soo is also a sector partner to the Department of Health’s Aged Care Digital Transformation and Delivery Group. 

“I’ve known for a long time that technology has a role to play in helping make our healthcare system more effective and efficient,” says Soo. “We can help healthcare systems run more effectively by creating better connections between the people coming in to receive care, the people who are providing that care and the infrastructure and ecosystems around hospitals and medical centres.”
