Datacom has appointed Matthew Evetts as the new director for cybersecurity in New Zealand.

Matthew’s 19 years of experience in business and IT has honed a set of skills targeted towards bridging the worlds of business and technology and making people the centre of progress. He is passionate about cybersecurity and the issues faced by organisations of all sizes.

“Cyber has been a major focus for me and I’ve seen a sea change that has occurred over the last decade; particularly the shift in awareness of cybersecurity issues has evolved and matured in business circles. Today, the threatscape is changing as fast as I’ve ever seen before and I’m thrilled to be working with the country’s leading cybersecurity practice,” says Matthew.

Matthew will lead a large team of people in Advisory, security operations, and managed cybersecurity services with some of the most highly certified cybersecurity professionals in the country as well as being home to one of the most mature security operations centres in New Zealand.

As we see this challenging year finally end, Datacom’s cyber teams are focusing on the seamless integration of cybersecurity in our customers’ environments. With improved alignment between our analysts and cybersecurity professional services, we are better positioned to identify risks and deliver increased and timely mitigation and visibility to our customers.
