Datacom, one of Australasia’s largest locally owned IT services companies, is to create 650+ new jobs when it opens its second South Australian Customer Service Hub in Noarlunga.
Premier Steven Marshall said today’s announcement will create 650 much-needed jobs for South Australia – a major win for jobs in the state.
“Investments like these will be critical to kick start our economy following the impact of COVID-19,” Premier Marshall said.
The roles will provide essential services for Datacom’s Federal Government clients as well as some customer support services for the company’s private sector clients.
Datacom managing director Stacey Tomasoni says the new facility will model the success of the Modbury site, established almost three years ago.
“At Modbury, we offer opportunities to not only those who were previously unemployed but also for others looking to enter into a new career in an industry that is growing and evolving rapidly,” Stacey said.
Datacom’s Modbury office now employs 1,200 people across a broad range of IT and customer support services. A large percentage of people hired have been previously unemployed and undergo significant training and ongoing development, to set them up for a career with Datacom.
“With the new centre at Noarlunga, we will continue to work alongside our clients and partners to ensure we can offer employment opportunities for those who need them while maintaining our high standards of support for our customers,” Stacey said.
Datacom was recognised for its contribution to the state’s employment push by winning the coveted Industry Collaboration award at The SA Training Awards last year. The Datacom initiative is an example of how contact centre jobs can remain in Australia, providing an opportunity to Australian communities who need meaningful employment with genuine career progression, training and upskilling.
