Datacom's Datascape platform — designed especially for local government — has been selected by the City of Boroondara in Victoria, Australia, to deliver its new Property, Rates and Permits system.
Located east of Melbourne’s central business district, the City of Boroondara serves a population of more than 170,000 residents, with the council overseeing a wide range of services and functions, including planning, building, land management, property and rates.
Following a competitive public tender process, Datacom’s Datascape platform was chosen to replace some of the council’s legacy systems.
The new Property, Rates and Permit system replacement is part of the “Transforming Boroondara” program and will support a broad range of council functions, including:
“The City of Boroondara is undertaking a major transformation and our team is proud to be part of that journey. Datascape will provide the council with a transparent, efficient and easy-to-use platform that simplifies internal processes and enhances service delivery for their community and stakeholders,” says Datacom's Director – Datascape, John Wiggs.
The Boroondara team will also be helping to shape and input into the development of additional functionality for the platform, including the BAMS integration (Building Authority) and additional automation opportunities for Planning, Building, Health, Food and Swimming Pools.
"Our work with Boroondara will help develop additional functionality that is tailored to the needs of local government in Victoria."
Datascape is a modern, cloud-based software suite that the Datacom team purpose-built for local government in Australia and New Zealand. The platform has been designed to empower councils with the tools they need to streamline operations and improve customer experience and provides a suite of ERP modules and digital enablement tools that can be tailored to each council’s needs.
“With Datascape, councils have a strong foundation for a smarter, more efficient way of working,” says Wiggs. “We’re excited to work alongside the Boroondara team to implement a solution that not only meets today’s requirements but also supports future innovation — including AI-driven automation and seamless integration with other systems.”
The contract with Datacom covers implementation, licensing and ongoing support for the Datascape platform, enabling the Boroondara team to better serve its citizens. This project follows other successful implementations under the council's Transforming Boroondara program, including the successful rollout of a new finance and CRM system.
Many local government teams are facing resourcing challenges, with constrained budgets and growing demand for their services. The right technology can play a critical role in addressing these challenges.
The Datascape platform was built for local markets and supports councils and local government to streamline operations, engage with their communities, efficiently deliver regulatory services and better manage their assets with greater transparency.
