1. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to express our commitment to identify, prevent, mitigate and account for adverse human rights impacts connected to our business.

This policy covers human rights, including modern slavery like forced or compulsory labour, servitude, trafficking in persons, debt bondage, forced marriage, forced prison labour and child labour.

2. Applicability

This policy applies to all personnel and suppliers including directors, officers, managers and supervisors, full-time, part-time or casual, temporary or permanent staff, student placements, apprentices, contractors, sub-contractors, vendors and volunteers (“personnel”).

3. Policy

At Datacom we:

  • recognise our responsibility to respect human rights, as described by the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
  • respect internationally recognised human rights as set out in the International Bill of Human Rights and the International Labour Organisation’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (the ILO Declaration)
  • oppose all forms of modern slavery practices both within our operations our supply chain
  • are committed to preventing, detecting and reporting adverse human rights impacts, including modern slavery practices
  • are committed to co-operating with other organisations to reduce the risk of adverse human rights impacts and modern slavery practices.

As an employer, we:

  • are committed to providing a safe workplace where all staff are treated without discrimination or harassment
  • strive to provide all staff and suppliers with safe and healthy working conditions which respect their human rights
  • are opposed to and will oppose all forms of slavery, forced or compulsory labour and child labour, both within our organisation and within our supply chain.

As a purchaser of goods and services, we:

  • strive to respect human rights in supplier procurement through being committed to engaging suppliers who respect human rights and share our commitment to high ethical standards
  • seek to make contractual arrangements with suppliers that promote the principles contained in this policy and our supplier code of conduct
  • will work with suppliers to assist them in their understanding of human rights and adoption of best practices to ensure respect for human rights
  • will:
    • promote ethical business practice
    • support equal opportunities
    • promote a safe and healthy work environment
    • strive to minimise the risk of adverse human rights impacts
    • value diversity and inclusion in the workplace
    • not tolerate harassment or discrimination in our workplace
    • promote fair wages and benefits
    • not tolerate forced or involuntary labour
    • provide a safe route for people to highlight non-compliance.

4. Consequences

Any personnel found to be acting in breach of this policy may face disciplinary action including termination of employment or contract.
