AirTrunk MEL1 is the largest data centre in Victoria (by MW capacity), and our colocation suite there is part of Datacom's trans-Tasman interconnected data centre network that spans Datacom’s two Australian locations and our four New Zealand data centres.

The site offers a fully secured perimeter, internally integrated CCTV and intrusion detection systems, and perimeter fencing. We keep visitor management module records and operate our security systems to the highest standards, with 24/7 remote and on-site security guards.

On-site team

Our data centre team are on-site to help you 24/7, with skilled and experienced technicians available to help with everything from a physical device check to full rack installation services. Customers can access also access AirTrunk MEL1 24/7 to work on their own equipment.

Certifications and compliance

AirTrunk MEL1 is a highly certified data centre, and customers of the facility all benefit from the assurance of a package of certifications held either by ourselves or AirTrunk, including TIA-942, ISO27001, Type 2 SOC 2, PCI-DSS, GDPR, and the UpTime Institute M&O stamp of approval.

Sustainable energy

AirTrunk MEL1 is designed for highly efficient use of power, with an industry-leading design PUE of 1.15.


At AirTrunk MEL1, IT power is provided via 2N supply to the site from diverse grid feeds. On-site protection is provided by 2N generators and 2N overhead outlets to customer racks. Mechanical services are supported by 2N grid supply and N+1 generators for all mechanical loads, enabling fault tolerance and concurrent maintainability.


AirTrunk MEL1 is universally protected in the case of fire with a VESDA aspirating smoke detection system. A ProInert gas flood fire suppression system is deployed throughout the data floors. Direct alarm connections with the local fire brigade are also in place.
