Datacom has announced that Peter Nelson – currently Managing Director for the technology company’s SaaS Products – will be stepping into the role of Datacom New Zealand Managing Director next month (effective 1 October 2025).
He comes with deep knowledge of Datacom and the different areas of the business, having held various senior and strategic roles in the business over the past 11 years – from leading growth in Professional Services and establishing integration and digital experience businesses, to more recently running the SaaS Products portfolio, which includes the Datascape and Datapay solutions.
“New Zealand is a critical part of our growth strategy and it’s important we have strong leadership in place to match the scale of our ambition, which is why we have chosen to fill Justin’s shoes with a proven leader.
“Peter’s appointment will help us reach the ambitious goals we have set for ourselves and I’m looking forward to seeing the impact he’ll make for our organisation and for our customers,” says Greg Davidson, CEO, Datacom Group.
Commenting on his appointment to the role leading the company’s New Zealand business, Peter Nelson says he is looking forward to expanding his remit and continuing to drive Datacom’s focus on bringing innovation to the market.
“Through my time leading the SaaS business, I’ve seen first-hand the impact our people and platforms have on customers, communities and the wider industry," says Nelson.
“As we enter a new chapter shaped by the rapid evolution of AI, I’m excited to support our team, our customers and our partners in navigating this change with clarity, purpose and a distinctly New Zealand approach, creating and implementing solutions that are right for our market.
“I’m proud to take on the role of MD for Datacom New Zealand – a company deeply rooted in our local communities and committed to helping them thrive. Technology has the power to unlock real progress, and I’m excited to work alongside our talented team and partners to deliver solutions that make a difference for New Zealand organisations. As AI reshapes our industry, we have a unique opportunity to lead with purpose, support our people, and build a future that reflects the best of Aotearoa.”
Outgoing Managing Director, Justin Gray, will be staying with the business until the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition.
