Building a platform for growth

DATACOM'S FIFTH ANNUAL CLOUD REPORT

This year’s Annual Cloud Report draws on a survey of 738 organisations across Australia and New Zealand and identifies top-line growth, cost management and a focus on customers as key priorities. The full report reveals insights into IT platform and infrastructure strategy, hybrid cloud, gaps in security, and how IT budgets are being allocated for the next 12 months.

For New Zealand businesses, effective adoption of cloud platforms is not just a technological imperative – it's a business necessity. By aligning cloud strategies with business priorities, investing in cybersecurity, thoughtfully integrating AI, and addressing skills gaps and new modes of operating, organisations can position themselves for the growth and customer experience they want to achieve.

Datacom’s Annual Cloud Report, undertaken with our research partner Tech Research Asia, is one of the largest longitudinal studies of its kind in Australasia with a focus on the state of the cloud ecosystem. We are pleased to share the latest results and hope they can help you and your organisation identify areas of focus that will help you make the most of your cloud investments.

Shift in New Zealand business priorities

Growth tops the list of business priorities

Organisations were asked about their business priorities for the next 12 months. Top line growth, closely followed by cost management, customers and risk management are the top business priorities for the year ahead – and while innovation featured as a top priority last year, it has dropped off the main agenda.

IT platforms getting majority of tech spend

What technology areas are organisations investing in over the next 12 months? IT platforms are the top technology priority for the second year in a row, followed by a focus on operational tech specifically targeting building and environmental management systems. Cybersecurity ranks third for tech spend but is highlighted in the report as a significant focus and a driver for modernisation.
