We invited subject matter experts from across the education industry, as well as specialists within Datacom, to present in both keynote sessions on the main plenary stage and at our own theatrette at the Datacom stand.
Lora has worked in the education sector for more than 25 years in K-12 schools and at an Education Department level as a Digital Learning Leader, and Director of Innovation and Design Thinking. Her professional experience and knowledge in innovative education helps schools to create opportunities for dealing with the disruptive nature of technology and improve pedagogical practices, with alignment to the educational goals of the school. She has a Master of Education, specialising in leading learning with technology, and is currently pursuing higher degree research with Curtin University to develop a student self-assessment tool with personal profile that demonstrates the core transferable skills that lead to success in a digitally-driven, information age of work.
Juliette has worked in secondary education for the past 33 years in various roles, including Technology Implementation Mentor and Classroom Teacher. She is a published author and presenter, coordinator with global writing communities, and more recently, a leader in Global Projects with the Asia-Europe Foundation. She has a Master of Education in Information Learning Connections from QUT. Juliette has an interest in educational transformation, building global writing communities and leveraging technology to advocate and act for sustainable development goals.
Claire has worked in both the Independent and Public Education systems for the past 30 years. Her qualifications and experience encompass all year levels, but her true passion is working with students in the Primary years as a Digital Technologies Learning Specialist and driving digital change across the curriculum. Her Master of Education focused on both Educational Administration and Leadership and Information Technologies. Claire has an interest in educational transformation, leveraging technology to design and deliver innovative pedagogical development across the Creative Arts curriculum areas, and in building student capacity to encourage them to be creative and critical thinkers.
Kristy has worked in the education sector for more than 15 years in various roles including Deputy Principal, Head of Curriculum, Technology Coach and Classroom Teacher. At Datacom, Kristy worked with State Education Departments, Dioceses and Independent sectors across Australia at the policy level to assist with meaningful technology integration. She received her PhD for her thesis on teaching and learning with cloud platforms in the primary school classroom, specifically looking at new and innovative ways of teaching and learning with Google’s cloud platform. Today, Kristy is a Research Fellow at Queensland University of Technology within the Centre of Excellence for the Digital Child.
Associate Professor Rekha Koul is an experienced educational leader, with a Doctorate in Science Education and 30+ years of international experience as an academic, researcher, practitioner, and leader, with extensive program management, publication and supervision experience. Currently, Rekha is Deputy Head of the School of Education and Discipline lead for STEM. Her expertise lies in the development, refinement, and validation of questionnaires; investigations of the effects of learning environments on student outcomes; evaluation of educational programs; teacher-action research aimed at improving their environments and evaluation of curriculum. She secured many local, national, and international research grants to the value of over 2.5 million dollars, including three funded by the Australian Research Council. Rekha convenes an International Conference on Science, Mathematics and Technology Education (icSTEM), a biannual conference in different parts of the world. She has established a Learning Environment Research Centre in Indonesia. She was the elected chair of the Jumki Basu Scholarship (NARST 2016-18) and is Chair of Learning Environment SIG (AERA).
Rachel is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at Curtin University, and is a passionate science educator and the Chair of the prestigious Curtin Academy, which supports and celebrates excellent teaching. Rachel has a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science Education, and a PhD in Education (Science). She has won several Faculty, University and National awards for Teaching Excellence, and was awarded an Executive Endeavour Fellowship in 2016 to Laos working with Laotian teachers. Her work with the STEMinist group through grants has seen her travel to India, Indonesia and Malaysia supporting pre-service teachers, teachers and primary students. In 2020, she was inducted into the WA Women’s Hall of Fame for her 30 years of service to STEM and Science Education. Rachel was a 2019 Homeward Bound participant selected as an acknowledgement of her work and influence in science education promoting women in STEM and supporting and collaborating with STEM women from around the world. In 2022, she was commissioned by UNESCO under the authority of the Director of UNESCO Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education to report on global citizenship education (GCED) in the Asia-Pacific region and supporting educators through her work with the United Nations Association of Western Australia. Since COVID, Rachel has been invited as an international keynote speaker across Southeast Asia. She is currently the team leader of the WACE accredited unit for the United Nations Association of Western Australia.
