Leaders of some of New Zealand's private and public sector organisations joined Datacom to hear about the new data-driven revolution: data and analytics.

Datacom’s head of South Island, Tracy McElroy, and keynote speaker, Cawthron Institute's Darren Wood, spoke at length at Datacom's Data and analytics: a data-driven revolution event about how data and analytics are transforming New Zealand organisations.

Speakers presenting at the event

Darren is instrumental in a ground-breaking modern data platform project for Cawthron Institute, New Zealand's largest independent science organisation. Cawthron Institute scientists help to grow and protect New Zealand's aquaculture industry, improve water quality, and investigate algae and bioactive substances that could be used in everything from pharmaceuticals to food production.

Cawthron Institute’s modern data platform programme is transforming the practice and capability of Cawthron’s scientists. It means working with a diverse range of data sets, including real-time Internet of Things (IoT) data, large genomic sequencing files, and acoustic recordings of wildlife.

Darren's colleague, Matt Polson, also presented an overview of the latest trends for data and analytics. He shared some of Datacom's exciting most customer stories involving relative real-time IoT analytics and machine learning.
